10 Smart Kitchen Storage Ideas
Maximize every inch of your kitchen with practical cabinet accessories and clever storage solutions that earn back the space they take up.

Start with the drawers
Deep drawers beat base cabinets with doors for almost everything except tall appliances. You see the whole contents at once instead of kneeling to reach the back.
- Pot-and-pan drawers under the cooktop, sized to your largest pan.
- Two-tier cutlery inserts — the second tier doubles the usable area of a shallow top drawer.
- Pegboard drawer dividers for plates and bowls, so stacks can't slide.
Use the awkward spaces
- Corner base pull-outs turn the least usable cabinet in the kitchen into full-depth storage.
- A 6" filler pull-out beside the range holds oils and spices within arm's reach of the burners.
- Toe-kick drawers hold trays, baking sheets, and pet bowls in space that is otherwise wasted.
Go vertical
- Tray dividers above the fridge, where a normal shelf is too high to be useful.
- A tall pantry with pull-out shelves so nothing gets lost at the back.
- Wall cabinets to the ceiling — the top shelf is for things you use twice a year, and that's exactly what most kitchens are short on.
One thing to plan for early
Every accessory has a minimum cabinet width, and most of them cost less to include in the original order than to retrofit later. Decide which ones you want before the cabinet sizes are locked in, not after.
